This project was inspired by Carmen Miranda. I first started looking at fruit using macro lens photography techniques. This created a whole selection of shapes, textures, colours from which I worked to created the textiles and eventually the structure of the garments. Essentially I was working in reverse using the shapes to produce a garment, connecting them to create a form around the body. This was based on changing the size, weight of yarn, gauge of knitting or crochet. The yarns I chose were based on the textures and aesthetics of the fruits and therefor had an affect on how I dyed the yarns. This in turn created variations in the colour scheme throughout the garment.
The final pieces were then captured in a photo shoot with model Laura W. and photographed by Mehtap Birgun.
