I had the pleasure of running an embroidery workshop for Thread, the fashion club at the Peabody Trust in Hackney a few weeks ago.
The young ladies chose their fabric and set it in their hoops. They drew a design of their choice directly onto the fabric (names and hearts were the post popular!)
We then chose a few simple techniques for them to embroider on to their designs. I also created a small handbook including a few useful addresses for them, so that they could look up techniques and inspiration after the class had finished. I also gave them ideal of where they could place embroidery on to their garments and use it in their Final show.
